Turbidity Sensors Product Description
Turbidity Sensor Measuring principle
Low turbidity is measured by scattered light. The number of suspended particles corresponds to the intensity of scattered light. In order to ensure that different measuring instruments will yield comparable results, the standard ISO 7027 ( DIN 38404) was drawn up, stipulating 90° measurement for turbidity ( FNU) .
Turbidity Sensor Design
The turbidity sensors process an analog signal 4– 20 mA which is supplied by the turbidity sensor' s electronics after compensation of temperature and ambient light. A mechanical wiper prevents contamination of the turbidity sensor' s measuring windows. The wiper cycle is controlled by an extern contact and allows you to match the turbidity sensor' s cleaning cycle to your application. Preprocessing the turbidity sensor' s measurement signal directly in the probe allows the turbidity probe and analyser to be extended by up to 656 feet ( 100m) . The heavy duty WQ750, turbidity sensors are constructed of 316 stainless steel with scratch resistant quartz optical lenses to provide a long, dependable service life. The turbidity sensors will even work in seawater with no issues. The turbidity sensors ships complete with 42 feet of cable and wiper actuation board.
Turbidity Sensor Installation
Reflections from stationary installations in the area of the turbidity sensor ( e.g. wall, ground) can affect turbidity measurements at low turbidity levels, causing the turbidity sensor to give false high turbidity values. It is important to take account of this when performing turbidity sensor control measurements in small vessels. The distance between the turbidity sensor probe and the next wall should be large enough to avoid reflections, see the diagram below.
